The New Britain Bees of the independent Athletic League re-signed former Brooklyn Cyclone right-hander Mike Hepple to a contract for the 2018 campaign, the team announced today.
Hepple rejoins the Bees for his sixth season of professional baseball and second in New Britain. Last year, the Harford, Connecticut-born hurler appeared in 43 games and posted a 2-2 record with a 3.23 ERA and 61 strikeouts across of 55.2 innings pitched.
Prior to that, the 6-foot-5-inch 27-year-old spent three seasons in the New York Mets’ organization, reaching as high as Double-A Binghamton, where he posted a 2-3 record with a 6.30 ERA in 20 innings in 16 tilts.
A non-drafted free agent, Hepple played with Brooklyn of the short-season A New-Penn League (NYPL) during the 2014 season, going 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 23.1 innings of work in 13 games.
Hepple began his pro career with the Washington Wild Things of the independent Frontier League in 2013.
