David Peterson pitched another solid game, tossing 6.2 innings of two-run ball. But the Columbia Fireflies (26-22) suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Greenville Drive (12-36) Sunday evening.
Greenville hurler Denyl Reyes (4-3) used just 92 pitches to neutralize the Fireflies’ offense, permitting only three hits in his nine-inning complete game shutout. Catcher Ali Sanchez recorded two of the three knocks in Columbia’s lose.
Peterson (L, 1-3) surrendered his two runs in the top of the second frame, while whiffing a total of seven batters in the tilt.
The New York Mets 2017 first round draft pick, who is sporting a 2.03 ERA, has struck out seven or more hitters in three of his last seven starts.
