Yorktown High School (NY) softball player Lainie Ornstein has accepted an offer from the Division III SUNY Cortland Red Dragons, today Yorktown Tweeted.
Ornstein is a surehanded catcher and outfielder who possesses good speed and a lethal bat, according to Yorktown High School Head Coach Samantha Fernandez.
Without a high school softball season due to the pandemic, Ornstein, a senior, had the opportunity to play summer ball with Team Long Island 2022, who was coached by a familiar face: Fernandez.
The Red Dragons posted a 2-2 record before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the college 2020 softball season.
