Mets Add Former Player Matt den Dekker as Minor League Outfield/Baserunning Coordinator


The New York Mets today have hired former outfielder Matt den Dekker as their minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator, per MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo ‘s Tweet.

den Dekker last suited up as a professional player for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) in 2019. With the Dicks, he batted .268 with two homers, 12 RBI, 18 runs, and 12 doubles in 29 games.

den Dekker played parts of three seasons with the Mets , hitting one home run and driving in 14 runs in 88 contests with the team. But he was known more for defense and speed.

The 33-year-old Fort Lauderdale, FL, native also played for the Washington Nationals and Detroit Tigers.
