Met Pitcher Grant Hartwig Latest Former Brooklyn Cyclone to Make MLB Debut

New York Met pitcher Grant Hartwig, a former Brooklyn Cyclone (High-A), made the decision to not attend medical school after graduating from Miami of Ohio in 2021.

Hartwig’s choice to sign with the Mets as an undrafted free agent looked brilliant last night, as he made his Major League debut, pitching a scoreless inning of relief in New York’s 11-1 lopsided victory against the Hoston Astros at Minute Maid Park.

Hartwig, 25, spun a 3-2 record with a .421 ERA in 25.2 innings of work with 35 strikeouts to 15 bases-on-balls with Triple-A Syracuse before the Mets called him up recently.

He enjoyed a solid performance with Brooklyn, going 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA in 15.1 frames in 11 games in 2022.

Hartwig posted a 5-5 mark with a 3.44 ERA and punched out 82 batters to surrendering just 11 walks with Miami of Ohio in 2021.
