A number of New York Mets prospects were instrumental in the Florida Complex League (FCL, rookie-league level ball) Mets’ 15-3 victory over the FCL Cardinals Monday afternoon at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida.
Mets top pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and shortstop Colin Houck (No. 7-rated Mets’ prospects) went 1-3 with three walks and three RBI, while fourth rounder and second baseman A. J. Ewing (.364/.1.044 OPS) enjoyed a 1-3 afternoon with three RBI.
Left fielder Kellum Clark (2023 20th-round pick) went 0-2 with two bases on balls and two runs scored.
Two players who the Mets acquired in the David Robertson trade — shortstop Marcos Vargus (.270/.844 OPS) catcher Ronald Hernandez (20th-rated prospect) — went 1-4 with a walk, run scored and an RBI and 2-3 with two RBI, a double, two bases on balls and a run scored, respectively.
