Possible September Call Ups for New York Mets

With MLB September call ups looming, it is time for the New York Mets to consider promoting their fourth-rated prospect infielder/outfielder Ronny Mauricio, who slugged his 22nd home run of the season for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets.

Additionally, Mauricio, 22, collected three hits last night, bringing his three-hit-game season total to 11.

The 6-foot-3 Dominican Republic native, who the Mets inked for $2.1 million as international free agent in July of 2017, is batting .294 with .346/.507/.853 splits and 24 stolen bases in 477 at bats in 113 games. Mauricio also leads the International League in hits with 140.

Hey, the Met fans have been screaming for it for some time now, and September seems like the perfect time to see if he can produce against MLB pitching.

Next, with question marks in New York’s rotation for this year and next, it would be a good idea to bring up right-hander Mike Vasil, who is the Mets’ top-rated pitching prospect and No. 9 overall, too, to see what type of stuff he possesses.

Vasil, 23, allowed one run over six innings with four strikeouts and two walks with Syracuse in an 8-7 victory over Buffalo last night.

Vasil has posted a 4-4 record with a 4.19 ERA and .219 batting average against him in 107.1 innings of work in 22 starts.

Also, New York is likely to call up third baseman Brett Baty, 22, in my opinion, who is mashing at Triple-A, putting up a .319 batting average to go along with 10 dingers and 31 RBI as well as a .406 OBP and .1098 OPS in 91 at-bats.
