Former Brooklyn Cyclone Ronny Mauricio Goes 2-3 in MLB Debut with Mets

Last night, infielder Ronny Mauricio became the latest former Brooklyn Cyclone (High-A) to make it to Major Leagues, as the New York Mets promoted him from Triple-A Syracuse as part of September callups.

Ronny Mauricio makes MLB debut with New York Mets.

Mauricio, the Mets’ No. 4 prospect, laced a double to right field, a 117 mph off-the- -lumber missile, for his first MLB hit.

New York wound up winning, 2-1, over the Seattle Mariners at Citi Field.

Mauricio went 2-3, including the highest-velocity first career hit by a rookie since MLB introduced Statcast in 2015.

The 22-year-old was batting .292 with 23 home runs and 71 RBI while slashing .346/.506/.852 in 490 at-bats in 116 games with Syracuse before the Mets promoted him.

Mauricio hit .242 with 19 dingers and 63 RBI in 392 at-bats in 100 contests with the Cyclones in 2021.
