The American Association has named Sioux Falls Canaries manager Mike Meyer as Manager of the Year for the 2023 season, today the league announced.
Meyer paced the Canaries to a 52-48 record and a trip back to the postseason for the first time in three seasons. He is the first Sioux Falls manager to earn the honor since Steve Shirley did in 2010.
The Canaries’ 52 wins marked a new career-high for Meyer and a 19-win improvement from the 2022 season.
The Tucson, Arizona, native joined the Canaries in 2017 after helping Laredo win an American Association championship as an assistant. Additionally, Meyer previously served as Sioux Falls’ pitching coach, helping to deliver the franchise’s first league crown in 2008.
