The longball was definitely in style for the St. Paul Saints (84-63), the Minnesota Twins’ Triple-A International League affiliate, as the team slugged four dingers in their 10-6 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens (69-78, Detroit Tigers) Friday night in front of 7,517 fans at CHS Field.
St. Paul infielder Anthony Prato enjoyed a fantastic night, as he went 2-3 with two home runs, three RBI, and two runs scored in the victory.
In addition to Prato’s stellar game, left fielder Michael Helman launched a grand slam to straightaway center, his sixth home run of the season, third career grand slam, and second bases-loaded-clearing shot of the year, giving the Saints a 7-3 lead. It was St. Paul’s (84-63) 14th bases juiced dinger of the year, tying a modern era stats season record.
Lastly, third baseman Yunior Severino clubbed a two-run homer to right, his 11th with the Saints and 35th of the season, that gave St. Paul a total of four homers in the contest.
St. Paul plays the Mud Huns in game five of a six-game series Saturday night at CHS Field at 6:37 p.m.
