Former New Providence HS Guard Meghan Lamanna Leads Scranton Hoops to Big Win Over Stevens


Division III University of Scranton Women’s basketball freshman Meghan Lamanna, an ex-New Providence High School (N.J.) guard, drained a game-high 21 points, as the Royals (5-0) routed Stevens, 89-54, Monday night at home.

Lamanna hit five three pointers, while sophomore Kaci Kranson scored 17 points, six of which came from beyond the arc.

Senior guard Allie Lynch dropped in nine points and freshman forward Elizabeth Bennett, who starred at St. Joseph Hill Academy on Staten Island, N.Y., recorded nine points, all in the fourth quarter.

6-foot-2 center Victoria Toomey, a graduate student, contributed six points and nine rebounds while senior forward Maddy Ryan registered eight points and seven boards.

Sophomore guard Leyla Castro led the Ducks (5-2) with 20 points in the defeat.
