The New York Yankees have signed catcher J.C. Escarra to a non-roster minor league contract with an invite to spring training, today he wrote on X.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Cuban-American played with the Toros De Tijuana and Union Laguna of the Mexican Baseball League where he belted seven home runs and 24 RBI in 162 at-bats in 42 contests.
Before that, the 28-year-old Cuban-American spent time with the independent Gastonia Honey Hunters in the Atlantic League, batting .348 with 15 longballs, 41 RBI, while slashing .423/.707/1.131 in 164 at-bats in 41 contests.
The New York Mets drafted Escarra in the 32nd round of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Mater Academy Charter School in Hialeah, Florida, and again by the Baltimore Orioles in the 15th round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
