The New York Mets made another depth move yesterday, claiming right-handed pitcher Max Kranick off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates, per reports.
In a corresponding move, the Mets have designated outfielder/catcher Cooper Hummel for assignment, to make room on their 40-man roster.
The 26-year-old is 2-3 with 5.56 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 43.2 innings of work in 11 games across two seasons (2021-22) with the Pirates.
The Pirates selected Kranick in the 11th round, 345th overall, of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft out of Valley View High School in Archbald, Pa.
