It is not often that a female high school freshman basketball player garners the attention the way Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka has.
But the Frederick, Maryland, resident, who attends Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, is no ordinary young, female adolescent basketball player.
The 6-foot-1 Wilson-Manyacka just picked up an offer from Division I Columbia University Women’s basketball program. She also holds offers from D1 Purdue, Baylor, Tennessee, UCLA, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Illinois, Virginia Tech, among other programs.
One would think that due to her height, she would be ticketed as a post player. But Wilson-Manyacka can dribble the rock with precision movements while slicing and dicing to the hoop for a basket like a soaring eagle. Therefore, she often does play point guard and sees action at the wing position.
Wherever Wilson-Manyacka is on the hardwood, there is no doubt that her story is really starting to take flight.
