When one thinks of overseas baseball, Bahamas is not the country that immediately comes to mind for most fans of the game.
But that did not stop the New York Mets in selecting and officially signing shortstop/center fielder Bohan Adderley in 2024 International Free Agency (IFA) today.
A solid player, Adderley owns good speed, a decent amount of power and above-average arm strength, per reports. Of course, he is only 17, so he should conceivably enhance his physical development, though he is already 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, and mental approach to the game after receiving higher-level baseball instruction.
Adderley learned the sport at the International Elite Sports Academy (IESA), a Bahamian organization dedicated to assisting student-athletes fulfill their aspiration of playing professional baseball, per its Facebook page.
Javado Bain Jr., whom the Toronto Blue Jays picked, was the first player out of IESA to be plucked in the IFA.
