The 2024 McDonald’s All-American high school boys and girl’s rosters were announced yesterday, and the boys’ team features five local top basketball players from New Jersey and New York area high schools. The girls’ team has four area players on its roster.
New Jersey sports a total of three players between both teams, and New York has five.
Here is a look at the senior ballers selected for the prestigious high school basketball event, which will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd, at the Toyota Center in Houston Center.
Boys’ Roster
Dylan Harper, a Rutgers commit, is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard who is the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper. He plays for Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey) and suited up for NY Rens AAU squad.
Harper (West) has poured in 273 points and grabbed 40 rebounds through 12 games played thus far this season.
Johnuel “Boogie” Fland (East) is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound combo guard from Archbishop Stepinac (New York) who is committed to Kentucky. He is averaging 18.3 points for the Crusaders.
VJ Edgecombe (West), who plays for nationally-ranked Long Island Lutheran (New York), is a Baylor signee. He is 6-foot-5 guard who possesses the athletic ability and hoop skills to dominate contests.
Ian Jackson (East) is a 6-foot-4 five-star small forward for Our Saviour Lutheran (Bronx, New York) who is a North Carolina signee. Jackson played travel hoops for Wiz Kids Basketball.
Jackson spent three years at Cardinal Hayes (Bronx) before transferring to Our Savior Lutheran for his senior campaign.
Tahaad Pettiford (East) is a 5-foot-10 four-star point guard out of Hudson Catholic in New Jersey. The Auburn signee, whom basketball scouts refer as an electric scorer who possesses a sweet long-range jumper and an elevated gear that permits him to blow by defenders and get to the basketball.
Girls’ Roster
Mikayla Blakes is a Vanderbilt commit who is a five-star recruit out of Rutgers Prep in New Jersey. She also suited up for Philly Rise AAU squad. The guard has drained team-highs in points (276) and steals (52) to go along with 59 boards.
It is the first time in the event’s history to ever have a trio of players from the same school in the same year, per X.
The ultra talented threesome is one of the reasons why LuHi is nationally-ranked.
