Outfielder Tyler Dearden has signed a contract with the Long Island Ducks for the 2024 Atlantic League campaign, today the team announced via X.
Dearden is a high on-base percentage player, amassing a .353 OBP during his six-year run with the Boston Red Sox organization, where he reached as high as the Triple-A Worchester Red Sox in 2023. The 25-year-old Willingboro, New Jersey, native added a .778 OPS along with 49 home runs, 228 RBI, 204 runs, 356 hits, 72 doubles, five triples and 179 walks in 399 career games.
“We are excited to welcome Tyler to Long Island,” Ducks Manager Lew Ford said on LIDucks.com. “He has done an excellent job of getting on base throughout his professional career and has experience at both corner outfield positions.”
Dearden made All Star teams thrice in his career. MiLB.com named him an Organization All-Star and a made the High-A East Post-Season All-Star squad in 2021. He also picked up New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star recognition in 2018, slugging .306 that season with four longballs, 23 RBI, 30 runs, 52 hits, 12 doubles, one triple and a .364 on-base percentage.
The Red Sox originally selected Dearden in the 29th round of the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft out of Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
