Today, the Sussex County Miners have announced they have re-signed right-handed All-Star pitcher Mark Moclair for the upcoming 2024 Frontier League campaign, according to their X page.
The hard-throwing Moclair, 27, spent 2023 posting a 5-6 record with a 3.66 ERA and a team-leading 105 strikeouts in 108.1 innings of work in 19 games with the Miners, earning an All-Star squad honor.
Selected in the 12th round (372 overall) of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft out of the University of Tampa by the Houston Astros, Moclair pitched in four seasons within the Astros’ minor league system. He totaled a 7-11 mark with a 4.54 ERA and 178 whiffs in 123 frames in 53 contests, reaching as high as Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks in 2021.
