5 Local NY/NJ Hoop Players Enter College Transfer Portal


With the NCAA college transfer portal wide open these days, basketball players continue to swing through the turnstiles at a fever pitch, with today being quite active.

To that end, ex-Iona College players — forward Isaac Brice, guard Jeremiah Quigley and forward Terrell Williams, Jr. have entered the transfer portal, today VerbalCommits.com wrote on X.

Additionally, former Fordham forward/center Elijah Gray has entered the portal, while Rutgers guard Derek Simpson has put himself in the threshold.

Brice saw limited on-court action, averaging 0.9 points per game, while Quigley poured in 10.8 points per contest and totaled 108 assists this past season with the Gaels. Williams scored 2.0 points per game, while totaling 10 helpers.

Gray averaged 8.4 points and 3.7 helpers in 32 games with the Rams in the 2023-24 campaign.

As for Simpson, a former Lenape High School product, he saw action in all 32 tilts, starting 25 of them. He averaged 8.3 points with a team-best 93 assists and 44 steals, while shooting a team-leading 86.4 percent from the free throw line, according to scarletknights.com.
