Today, the Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League bolstered their pitching staff with three area signings: Christian Capuano, Mike Shawaryn and Bryan Warzek, the team announced via X.
Capuano, a righty from Vernon, N.J., posted a 10-4 mark with a 3.82 ERA and 118 strikeouts last season with Staten Island. Before the FerryHawks, the 26-year-old played for Division III Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, going 8-10 with 4.25 ERA in four total years at the college.
Shawaryn, a Carneys Point, N.J., product, is a former Major Leaguer who spent 2023 with the Lake Country Dock Hounds, going 4-9 with 6.26 ERA in 96.1 innings of work in 18 contests. The righty played with the Boston Red Sox in 2019.
The Red Sox picked Shawaryn, 29, in the 5th round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft out of the University of Maryland.
Warzek, a Clifton Park, N.Y., native, posted a 3-0 record and 2.74 ERA with the Chicago Dogs of the American Assocation in 2023. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the lefty 27-year-old in the 6th round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft out of the University of New Orleans.
