Yankees Land Righty Jake Cousins from White Sox for Cash

The New York Yankees yesterday have acquired right-handed pitcher Jake Cousins from the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations. He will report to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Cousins, 29, put up a 4.82 ERA (9.1IP, 10H, 5R/ER, 10BB, 7K, 1HR) in nine relief appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023. He spent the majority of the season in the minors, combining to go 3-2 with a 6.35 ERA (28.1IP, 29H, 21R/20ER, 18BB, 43K, 4HR) in 29 relief appearances with Triple-A Nashville, ACL Brewers and Triple-A Sugar Land.

Cousins began the year in spring training with the Whie Sox, where he went 0-1 with a 1.29 ERA (7.0IP, 5H, 4R/1ER, 2BB, 11K, 1HR).

Across parts of three campaigns with the Brewers, he has posted a 3-1 mark with a 3.08 ERA in 51 relief outings. Additionally, Cousins has spent some time in independent baseball with the Shamburg Boomers of the Frontier League (2019) and Chicago Dogs of the American Assocation, going 2-3 between both stops.

The Washington Nationals selected Cousins in the 20th round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Pennsylvania.
