The Staten Island FerryHawks have pulled off a major deal, signing former major leaguer infielder Pablo Sandoval for the 2024 Atlantic League campaign, today the team announced on X.
Sandoval, nicknamed “Kung Fu Panda,” saw action in 16 games in spring training with the San Francisco Giants, picking up seven hits and two RBI in 28 at-bats before San Francisco cut him.
Sandoval, 37, has compiled a .278 batting average with 153 homeruns and 639 RBI in 14 MLB seasons with the Giants (11 years), Boston Red Sox (three years) and Atlanta Braves two years).
Moreover, Sandoval, a two-time All-Star, has shined when it mattered most, totaling a .338 batting average with six longballs and 20 RBI in157 at-bats in 42 postseason contests. Additionally, he is a four-time World Series champion, capturing the MVP honor in with San Fransico in 2012.
