New Jersey native and Texas Rangers pitching prospect Jack Leiter will be making his MLB debut versus the Detroit Tigers Thursday, today the Rangers and his old high school wrote on X.
Leiter, who lives in Summit, N.J. and attended Delbarton School in Morristown, N.J., posted a 1-1 mark with a 3.77 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 14.1 innings of work in three games with the Round Rock Express (Triple-A). The 21-year-old Leiter, a teammate of New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe at Delbarton, is currently the No.8-rated prospect in Texas’ minor system, according to MLB Prospect Pipeline.
The Rangers selected Leiter, the son of former MLB pitchers Al Leiter (New York Mets, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Florida Marlins) and nephew of Mark Leiter, in the first round, second overall, of the 2021 MLB Amateur Draft out of Vanderbilt University.
Leiter was named the Gatorade 2018-19 New Jersey High School Baseball Player of the Year while with the Delbarton School baseball program.
