Former New York Yankees first round, 18th overall, 2016 MLB Draft selection Blake Rutherford has signed with the Kansas City Monarchs of the American Assocation, yesterday the league wrote on X.
Rutherford, an outfielder, spent 2023 with the Washington Nationals, where he made his MLB debut with the team. The 26-year-old collected six hits, drove in two runs and scored four runs in 35 at bats in 16 games in his first and only season in the Major Leagues to date.
The California native, who attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in West Hills, Calif., hit .279 with 55 home runs and 335 RBI in 2562 at-bats in 672 contests across seven years of affiliated minor league baseball.
