Moreta Dazzles in US Pro Pitching Debut with Florida Complex League Mets

After pitching in the Mets’ Orange Dominican Summer League in 2023, where he posted a 4-4 record with a 3.42 ERA, pitcher Edgar Moreta made his United States professional baseball debut today.

The 20-year-old righty retired all 10 batters he faced while striking out five and reaching 95 mph against the Marlins in 3.1 innings of work in the Mets’ 8-5 victory in Florida Complex League action.

Edgar Moreta makes successful American professional baseball debut.

Shortstop Jeremy Rodríguez, New York’s No. 12-rated prospect on MLB Pipeline, went 1-4 with a triple and stolen base, while outfielder Simón Juan posted a 2-5 performance with an RBI and infielder Dangelo Sarmiento launched a home run.
