Mets Second Base Prospect AJ Ewing Launches First Homer

The New York Mets are loaded with infielders at the minor league level, with Jett Williams, Luisangel Acuña, Colin Houck, Jeremy Rodiguez, among others, waiting for their opportunity to shine at the MLB ranks someday soon.

But you could be hearing about the Mets’ latest infield prospect, second baseman A.J. Ewing, climbing the ranks in due course.

Ewing, New York’s fourth-round pick in the 2023 Amateur Draft out of Springboro High School in Ohio, slugged his first professional home run today, an absolute 106 MPH off-the-bat shot in the Mets’ 10-4 victory over the Washington Nationals’ Florida Complex League (rookie) affiliate.

A.J. Ewing goes deep in a flash.

This season, Ewing is batting .235 with a homer, four RBI, four walks and a stolen base through 17 at-bats in five games.

The 19-year-old hit .286 with 3 RBI and .881 OPS in 14 at-bats in seven contests during the 2023 campaign.
