Mets Ink RHP Nick Bautista from Joliet Slammers


The New York Mets have signed former Joliet Slammer right-handed pitcher Nick Bautista III to a minor league contract, today the Florida Complex League Mets announced on X.

Bautista, 22, had been pitching with the Slammers of the independent Frontier League, posting a 0-1 record with 0.00 ERA in 1.2 innings of work in three games before the Mets purchased his contract.

Bautista spent the 2023 season with the Texas Rangers, who selected him in the 16th round of the 2022 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Cypress College in Cypress, California.

While with the Chargers, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Monterey Park, California, native recorded a 3-4 mark in 15 appearances, 13 starts, as a freshman.

Additionally, Bautista played high school baseball at Esteban Torres in Los Angeles.
