Right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat was dealing for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A), as he fired one-run, four-hit ball in seven innings of work in the team’s 7-3 victory over the Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals/27-19) last night at Mirabito Stadium.
Sproat, the New York Mets’ 13th-rated prospect, walked two and struck out five in his first win for Binghamton. The 23-year-old has now lowered his ERA to 1.89 across three starts with the Rumble Ponies (24-20).
Moreover, Sproat has recorded a 3-1 record with a 1.42 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP in 44.1 frames in nine games between the Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A) and Binghamton.
As for the Rumble Ponies’ offense, left fielder Ryan Clifford, New York’s fourth-rated prospect, went 2-4 with two runs scored, while catcher Kevin Parada, the Mets’ ninth ranked prospect, stroked 2-4 with an RBI. First baseman J.T. Shwartz added a 2-4 performance with an RBI and a run scored.
