In a need of minor league pitching prospects, it looks like the New York Mets have a bonafide hurler in the emerging Brandon Sproat.
Sproat, 22, fired seven scoreless innings and a recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts whiling allowing just one hit in the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ 3-2 victory over the Harrisburg Senators (30-21/Washington Nationals) Sunday at Mirabito Stadium.
Carlos Guzman picked up the win after tossing two scoreless innings of relief.
Although Sproat did not came away with victory, he did improve his ERA to 1.23 with a 3-1 record thus far this season between Binghamton (26-23) and High-A Brooklyn Cyclones.
Right fielder Ryan Clifford went 1-3 with home run, an RBI, a run scored and two walks, while designated hitter Nolan McLean went 1-4 with an RBI and a base on balls.
