Historic No-Hitter by Trio of Brooklyn Cyclones Pitchers in 3-0 Win Over Ironbirds

A trio of right-handed pitchers — Dakota Hawkins, Joey Lancellotti and Joshua Cornielly –combined to toss the first ever nine-inning no-hitter in Brooklyn Cyclones (28-24) history Tuesday night on Coney Island in the team’s 3-0 win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds (26-26).

Three Brooklyn Cyclones pitchers combined for a nine-inning no-hitter.

On a rehab assignment in Brooklyn, New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez caught all nine innings of the no-no and picked up a hit and walk in the process.

Hawkins, who picked up the victory, got things going with five innings of hitless ball, allowing just one walk.

Lancellotti, an ex-North Carolina Tar Heel, took the ball from there, firing an inning of hitless ball. Then, Cornielly took over, going three innings for his sixth save of the season, the most on the Cyclones.

Offensively, Brooklyn scored two runs off an RBI single from right fielder Stanley Consuegra and an RBI groundout from shortstop William Lugo in the bottom of third for a 2-0 lead.

Designated hitter Jefrey De Los Santos launched his third home run off the season in the fourth inning to cap the game’s scoring.
