Former Minnesota State—Moorhead (D-II) guard Ja’Kair Sanchez is transferring to Division I Wagner College Men’s basketball program, today sports media outlets announced on X.
The 6-foot-4 guard from Syracuse, N.Y., averaged 12.5 points and 4.3 rebounds, while dishing out 1.7 assists in 31 games played last season. He also made 16 steals. Sanchez shot at a 42 percent clip from the field including a 42.2 connection rate from long range.
Sanchez spent the previous three seasons playing at Division II Roberts Wesleyan University, where he played in 26 games in 2022-23, starting 25 of those contests and averaged 12 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He shot an impressive 44.2 percent from the floor for the year and was a third team All-ECC selection for his efforts.
Sanchez took a redshirt year in the 2019-20 campaign. Before college, he attended Next Level Prep Academy in Austin, Texas.
Wagner posted a 17-16 overall record and went 7-9 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action this past season. The Seahawks defeated Howard in the first round of the “March Madness” tournament last college basketball year.
