Class of 2026 Cardinal Hayes High School (Bronx, N.Y.) and New York Rennaissance (Rens) point guard Jermel Thomas has received an offer from Division I University of Rhode Island Rams Men’s basketball program, yesterday he wrote on X.
Additionally, Thomas holds offers from Providence, Bryant, Seton Hall and Fordham, according to his X account and VerbalCommits.com.
Thomas is a slick-playing 6-foot-3 guard who can dazzle and put on a show. But no mistake, as he can flat out play in whatever environment: street ball or organized basketball. Whether it is him stepping back and nailing a long-range jumper, or eluding defenders en route to the hoop, Thomas can score from several areas of the floor.
There have been several other top college basketball programs in attendance at his games, per reports, to watch him hoop. But it is important to know that he is young and developing, so Thomas can only improve, in theory.
The Rams posted a 12-20 overall record and went 6-12 in Atlantic 10 Conference action in the 2023-24 campaign.
