New York Yankees legend and Hall of Famer Joe Torre will be honored at two Somerset Patriots (Double-A) games this season.

First, Torre will be appearing for an exclusive pre-game meet and greet on Tuesday, July 23rd on the SK Club, and then they will be giving away Joe Torre bobbleheads on Wednesday, August 28th.

Torre, a Brooklyn native, will participate in an on-field question and answer session regarding his playing/coaching career and throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the 6:05 p.m. game against the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox).

Tickets for the event are $250 per person and includes a picture with Torre and a pre-signed baseball. In addition, the meet and greet includes a ticket to the game on the SK Club featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet with fountain drinks included.

$50.00 of every ticket purchased will benefit the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation. Founded in 2002 by Ali and Joe Torre, Safe At Home provides services in schools to children exposed to violence in order to help them heal from trauma. Their mission is to educate to end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives.

As for the Joe Torre bobblehead, the first 1,000 fans in attendance for the 6:35 pm game against the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) will receive a bobblehead.

The Patriots will celebrate Torre’s career and raise money at the event for the Safe At Home Foundation.

Torre is the only person to lace 2,342 hits as a player and 2000 wins as a manager. Plus, he captured 13 divisional titles (two with the Los Angeles Dodgers), six American League pennants and four World Series titles as a manager.

As a player, Torre made nine All-Star appearances and earned the National League MVP Award in 1971.
