Ex-Trenton Thunder Players Selected in 2024 MLB Amateur Draft by A’s, Tigers, and White Sox


The Oakland Athletics have selected Trenton Thunder of the MLB Draft League pitcher Josiah Romeo in Round 6 of the Draft, 166th overall, while the Detroit Tigers have picked outfielder Jackson Strong in the seventh round, 206th overall, the Thunder recently announced on X.

Additionally, the Chicago White Sox today have plucked Nathan Archer in the 12th round, 349th overall.

If Romeo signs with the A’s, the ex-Mayfield High School (ON) product will receive a $385,500 slot money, forgoing his commitment to Florida State. But scouts feel as he physically develops, he will ass more velocity to fastball and action on his other offerings, which should improve his draft stuck if decides to attend college.

With Trenton, Romeo put up a 2.51 ERA while striking out 16 batters in 14.1 innings of work in four games, three of which were starts.

Jackson Strong picked by the Detroit Tigers in the 2024 MLB Amateur Draft.

As for Strong, a fourth-year junior out of Canisius College (N.Y.), he could earn $270,700 if he inks with the Tigers. But he is committed to Kentucky, according to a source.

Strong clubbed .350 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI while slashing ,350/.482/.621/ He received his second straight All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) First Team recognition for his stellar performance during the 2023-24 college baseball campaign.

Before college, he attended West Seneca East High School in West Seneca, N.Y.

Archer, a rising senior outfielder, attended Bowling Green State University and hit .300 with a team-best 18 longballs while driving in 66 RBI. He added a Mid-American Conference (MAC)-leading 66 runs scored and contributed nine stolen bases in 15 attempts in 247 at-bats in 53 contests this past season with the Falcons.
