New York Mets outfield prospect Nick Morabito is having himself one heck of a season due to his wheels.
The 21-year-old is batting .305 with 50 stolen bases, 51 walks, and 64 runs scored with a .394 OBP in 394 at-bats in 103 games between the St. Lucie Mets (Low-A) and Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A) in 2024. He has also hit three home runs and drove in 28 RBI.
But, as you can see, speed is the name of his game. Morabito, New York’s No. 19 prospect on its prospect watch list, swiped 21 bases out of 25 attempts across the Florida Complex League Mets and St. Lucie in 2023.
Morabito’s power bat has not developed yet, but he can leg out enough groundballs for hits and steal bases to help him move along the Mets’ system in due course.
New York selected him in the second round, 75th overall, of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C.
