JT Ginn: Former Brooklyn Cyclone Makes MLB Debut with Oakland A’s

Right-handed pitcher JT Ginn became the 102nd former Brooklyn Cyclone (New York Mets) to make his MLB debut when he climbed the bump Wednesday night for the Oakland A’s, per the Cyclones’ social accounts.

Ex-Brooklyn Cyclone pitcher JT Ginn hits “The Show” with two scoreless innings of relief for the Oakland A’s in MLB debut.

Ginn, 25, struck out the side in his first inning in the Majors, and went on to pitch a total of two scoreless innings of relief in Oakland’s 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ginn posted an 8-4 mark with a 5.26 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and 97 strikeouts in 102.2 frames in 21 games between the Double-A Midland RockHounds and Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators before the A’s called him up to “The Show” last night.

With Brooklyn, he went 3-4 with a 3.38 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 53.1 innings of work in 10 games in 2021.

New York traded Ginn, along with pitcher Adam Oller, for starting right-hander Chris Basset in 2022.

The Mets selected Ginn with the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Mississippi State University.
