Hunter Hodges: New York Mets Undrafted Free Agent Pitcher’s Debut Goes Well


Right-handed pitcher Hunter Hodges, a New York Mets undrafted free agent, appeared in his first Floridia Complex Bridge League game on Saturday against the Astros, striking out three batters while displaying an excellent hook in an inning.

Hunter Hodges gives a taste of why the New York Mets inked him a UDFA him.

The Mets inked Hodges out of Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogged Baseball program this past season. The 21-year-old posted a 0-0 record with 1.86 ERA, and one save in 19.1 innings of work in 18 contests with TCU in the 2024 campaign.

Hodges put up a 6-5 mark during his four-year collegiate career with University of North Carolina UNC Wilmington and TCU.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Wilmington, N.C., native made 2nd-team Academic All-Big 12 Conference in 2024. Additionally, Hodges earned the 2022 Colonial Athletic Assocation (CAA) Honorable Mention, 2021 1st-Team All-CAA, as well as 2021 CAA All-Rookie Team honors.
