The Florida State League (FSL/low-level Single-A) has named St. Lucie Mets centerfielder A.J. Ewing as its Player of the Week after he batted .545 with two home runs, six RBI and a 1.570 OPS percentage, today the team announced via X.
The New York Mets’ 29th-rated prospect, Ewing, 20, completed his impressive week on Suday with a bases-clearing longball, which capped a seven-run, come-from-behind improbable 8-5 win for St. Lucie.
Ewing is hitting .238 with three homers and 44 RBI through 281 at-bats in 81 contests thus far this season.
The Mets selected Ewing with the 134th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Springboro High School (Ohio) as compensation for losing pitcher Jacob deGrom to the Texas Rangers in free agency.
