First baseman Junior Tilien wrapped a two-run single in the top of the seventh to put the Brooklyn Cyclones ahead for good, as they held off Winston-Salem Dash, 3-2, Tuesday night from Truist Stadium.
It was the Cyclones’ (25-30, 58-63) fifth consecutive road win.
Right-handed pitcher Eduardo Herrera came in and squelched a bases-loaded, one-out Dash (24-31, 55-66) threat in the bottom of the seventh by whiffing two straight batters to leave the bases juiced.
Herrera stayed in the contest in the bottom of the eight and recorded a perfect inning.
Righty closer Justin Lawson entered the game and secured the Brooklyn victory in the bottom out the ninth for his South Atlantic League-high-tying eighth save of the season.
Lefty starter Felipe De La Cruz tossed 5.0 innings of one-run ball but did not factor in the decision, while right-handed pitcher Jordany Ventura (4-2) earned the triumph after delivering 1.1 frames of one-run ball.
