Shortstop Luisangel Acuña and third baseman Luke Ritter went 2-5 with an RBI apiece to pace the Syracuse Mets (Triple-A) to a 3-2 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (/60-64/Philadelphia Phillies) on a rain-drenched Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
First baseman JT Schwartz added an RBI in the Syracuse (69 – 57) victory.
Starter pitcher Blade Tidwell gave up two earned runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts in four innings of work.
However, Tidwell did not figure in the decision.
Righty reliever Max Kranick (2-1) picked up the win after tossing two frames of scoreless ball, while closer Eric Orze earned his third save of the season without permitting a hit and registering one strikeout.
The Mets face the IronPigs today at 6.45 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park.
