University of Virginia Commit Bjorn Jurgensen Leads Bishop Moore to 42-21 Win Over Tottenville

Quarterback Bjorn Jurgensen of Bishop Moore Catholic High School, a powerhouse football program in Florida, threw for two touchdowns and ran for three others, leading the Hornets to a 42-21 victory over Tottenville (0-1) last night on Staten Island in non-league action.

Jurgensen, a University of Virginia commit, completed 18-of-24 pass attempts for 284 yards.

Hanging tough for good portion of the tilt, the Pirates fought back and tied the game in the second half at 21-21. But Jurgensen responded with a score in the third period. He then added two more TDs in the fourth quarter to put away the Pirates.

Sans top PSAL sophomore running back Kory Brown, who was sidelined due to a not-so-serious injury, but the coaching wanted to err on the safe side, per sources, Tottenville’s ground attack proved to be effective against a tough Bishop Moore (2-0) defense.

Junior Tyshawn Bent enjoyed a productive contest, rushing for 109 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns, while sophomore Nicholas Constantino racked up 79 years, and found pay dirt on one occasion.

Pirate junior signal caller Justin McGuire threw for 114 yards on 8-14 pass attempts.

Tottenville will travel to Philadelphia Saturday at 4:00 p.m. to take on Saints Neumann Goretti High School.
