Franklin High School (N.J.) senior center Precious Wheeler has verbally committed to Division I Rutgers University Women’s basketball program, today she announced on X, formally Twitter.
Wheeler held offers from Seton Hall, Colgate, Monmouth and Temple, per source, before ultimately committing to Rutgers.
Basketball scouts have the 6-foot-3 big projected as a powerful post presence and shot blocker for the Scarlet Knights.
Wheeler poured in 237 points (9.9 p.p.g.), grabbed 180 rebounds (7.5 r.p.g.) and blocked 68 shots (2.8 b.p.g.) in 24 games in the 2022-23 season as a sophomore. She did not play in the 2023-24 season.
Wheeler suited up for the New Jersey Demons AAU squad.
The Scarlet Knights posted an 8-24 overall record and went 2-16 in Big 10 Conference action in the 2023-24 campaign.
