Class of 2025 Rainier Beach High School (Seattle, Wash.) guard Kaden Powers has verbally committed to Division I Rutgers Men’s basketball program, yesterday he announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The 6-foot-5, 185-pound combo guard held offers from San Jose State, Utah State, James Madison, Weber State, Montana, Idaho, Seattle and San Francisco, per VerbalCommits.com.
Powers is difficult to defend, as he dribbles well and gets good elevation off his feet on his jump shot, allowing him to rise above shot-blocking attempts and launch clear looks at the hoop even when he is face-guarded.
The Scarlet Knights landed a commitment from class of 2025 Angelino “Lino” Mark earlier this month.
Rutgers put up a 15-17 overall record and went 7-13 in Big 10 Conference action in the 2023-24 season. But many basketball insiders consider the Scarlet Knights’ incoming freshman hoops class to be one of the best in the nation.
