Pirates’ Paul Skenes NL Named Rookie of the Year by Baseball Digest

Baseball Digest has dubbed Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes its Rookie of the Year, today the team announced via X, formerly known as Twitter.

Skenes put up a fantastic 11-3 mark with a 1.96 ERA, 0.947 WHIP and 170 strikeouts in 133.00 innings of work in 23 game starts during the 2024 campaign.

The Pirates selected Skenes in the first round of the 2023 MLB out of Louisiana State University.

The 22-year-old California native posted a 1.85 ERA with 55 whiffs in 34.0 frames in 12 games across two minor league seasons.
