Behind a game-high 26 points and four rebounds from sophomore guard Mercedes Perez and 13 points and six boards from senior guard Grace Kennedy, St. Joseph’s Brooklyn Women’s basketball routed City College of New York (CCNY), 92-35, to tip of the 2024-25 season Friday night at the Hill Center in non-conference play.
The Bears (1-0) led every quarter expect one, the fourth, by sizable advantages. They shot an impressive 44.6 percent from the field and held a 53-40 rebounding margin over the Beavers (0-1).
Junior guard Kristen Donovan contributed 11 points and three boards in the victory. Domenika Sanchez and freshman Nikki Grech dropped in nine points apiece, while Grech and junior guard Aaniya Telford added eight rebounds each.
Guard Kasia Morrison scored a team-best eight points for CCNY.
St. Joseph’s returns to action Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against host Brooklyn College.
