St. John’s Hosts Bobblehead Night for Coaching Legend Lou Carnesecca

To commemorate the iconic former Red Storm head coach Lou Carnesecca’s100th birthday, St. John’s University will hold its Legends Series Bobblehead Night on Saturday, Jan 4th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Carnesecca Arena in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y.

The first 3,000 fans in attendance for the Johnnies’ BIG EAST conference contest against Butler will receive a Lou Carnesecca replica statue to honor the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer.

Carnesecca posted a 526–200 overall record with the Red Storm across 24 seasons. During that time span, he helped guide St. John’s to the 1984-85 NCAA Final Four appearance and was part of the 1990-91 Elite Eight.

He was selected as the National Coach of the Year in 1983, and in 1985, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association bestowed him with the NCOY honor, too.

The Red Storm is off to a 2-0 start in the 2024-25 campaign.
