After finishing with a solid 7-3 record and winning a playoff game against Wayne Valley, 24-7, the Super Football Conference (SFC) — Liberty Blue Division recently named its all-conference teams, with several Chatham High School (N.J.) football players making the cut as first- and second-team members, as well as honorable mentions.
First Team
Senior quarterback Will Allen enjoyed an impressive year, making the first team after completed 157 of 270 attempts for 2022 yards and 17 touchdowns with only six interceptions.
Junior offensive lineman Jase Catullo developed into one of the top blockers and pass protectors in the conference, using his strength and fantastic footwork to help him earn a first team nod as well.
Senior offensive lineman Will Colvin and sophomore Nick Lagunowich (at large) made the first team, too. Lagunowich, a wide receiver and a talented two-sport athlete, caught 53 passes for 734 yards with six scores.
Senior defensive lineman Eric Riso racked up 44 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries earning him first team accolade recognition.
Junior linebacker Caden Gabriele recorded 53 stops with a sack and two forced fumbles en route to a first team honor, while senior punter Alex McWilliams booted his way to the accolade.
Second Team
Junior Sonny Arden (at large) pulled down 29 receptions for 347 yards and two touchdowns, making the second team.
Junior linebacker Tommy Douglas amassed 58 tackles with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, while Hunter Bigham, another junior linebacker and two-sport athlete (swimming), made 89 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two pick offs.
Next, senior defensive back Ryan Carey made 47 stops and had an interception.
Rounded out the honors, junior Michael MacAniff, a gifted two-sport (basketball) athlete, picked up honorable mention. As a receiver, MacAniff made 24 catches for 360 yards and three touchdowns.
