Kingsborough Community College Wave Men’s Hoops Defeats LaGuardia, 84-72

After starting the season at 0-4, the Kingsborough Community College Wave (Brooklyn) Men’s basketball team has won three of their last four games, including beating LaGuardia Community College, 84-72, Thursday night at home.

It was Kingsborough second straight victory.

The Red Hawks (0-7) jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage before the Wave responded with seven unanswered points. From there, both squads exchanged blows.

Kingsborough (3-5) eventually took a 38-28 lead into the locker room.

Freshman James Elder, who played for Thomas A. Edison High School, nailed a three-pointer to give the Wave a 20-point advantage midway through the second half.

However, LaGuardia did stage a mini comeback before freshman Kevar Samuels, who attended Pathways in Tech Early College (Paul Robeson High School), delivered a convincing rejection and an and-one on the other end to help seal the deal for Kingsborough.

The Wave, who compete in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), travel to Queensborough Community College (Queens) on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
