Sophomore Mercedes Perez dropped a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, while freshman Jasmine Chan-Clayton enjoyed a career night, scoring 16 points.
The duo propelled the Division III St. Joseph’s University, N.Y.—Brooklyn Women’s basketball team to a 65-37 rout of SUNY Old Westbury in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday evening at home in Brooklyn at The Hill Center.
The Bears (2-5) led 14-8 at the end of first period. After a unprecedented 14-0 run midway through the second quarter, St. Joseph’s advantage swelled to 36-19 at the half.
Both teams played to a 13-13 stalemate in the third period and finished the contest outscoring Old Westbury (0-7) 16-7 in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore guard Kristen Donovan contributed a team-best five steals and finished with 11 points and nine boards in the lopsided victory.
The Bears continue Skyline Conference play as they travel to Purchase College Saturday at 12 noon.
