Yes, it is early in the Public School Athletic League’s (PSAL) 2024-25 Boy’s basketball season, but that has not stopped the action from reaching red-hot levels.
In arguably New York state’s most competitive basketball conference, the 4A, teams took to the hardwood to battle it out for New York City’s public school supremacy.
Here is how the high-octane hoops action between six squads shook out Monday night.
Canarsie vs. Curtis
Canarsie High School, who is 3-0, edged Staten Island’s Curtis, 69-66, Monday at home.
Junior shooting guard James Singleton‘s double-double output of 23 points and 10 boards paced the Wolfpack to victory. Plus, senior point guard Xavier Francis poured in 14 points with five helpers, while junior forward Devin Clarke had 10 points.
Warriors’ junior guard Alonzo Archbold led all scorers with 30 points and 15 rebounds, and senior guard/forward Ty Ray Spencer contributed 24 points in Curtis’ (1-1) defeat.
Eagle Academy For Young Men II Eagle Academy For Young Men II Vs. Brooklyn Collegiate
Senior Jeremiah Jacobs enjoyed a monstrous game for Eagle Academy For Young Men II High School (Brooklyn) basketball team with a double-double of 16 points and 21 rebounds, as well as seven blocks in its 64-48 PSAL 4A Conference victory over Brooklyn Collegiate (0-3/2-3) Tuesday night at home.
Additionally, sophomore Amir Dockery contributed a double-double of his own with 11 points and 10 assists along with six steals, while senior Keyvion Jones Allen added 11 points in the Eagles’ (2-1/3-2) win.
Senior guard Flavio Jean drained a game-high 20 points for the Lions.
Lincoln Vs. South Shore
Senior point guard Ethan Ostane scored a game-best 33 points, as he helped propel Brooklyn’s Lincoln High School (1-1) to a 65-64 4A Conference win over host South Shore Tuesday night.
Sophomore point guard Christian Marbury added 17 points and senior guard Damon Higginson chimed in with nine. Senior shooting guard/forward Denzel Cintron grabbed 10 rebounds in the triumph.
Junior guard Nevion Legree led South Shore (0-3) with 29 points, while senior Kaden Francis contributed 16 points and 10 boards in his double-double performance.
